The Perisher Valley area
Back in 1984 I got to work down in Perisher Valley for a couple of months as a lift operator.
It was a working holiday for me and gave me some time to think about what I wanted to do after finishing my Fitting and Machining apprenticeship. I was living in the main centre of front valley .. where I also happened to work. The mornings were the coldest ( until the sun came up ) and my fingers would be numb as I got the lift set up for the day.

My room had panoramic views of the mountain and I shared the room with three ski instructors. Unfortunately years later one of those intructors was killed in the Thredbo landslide.

If you want to work in the ski fields, don't be fooled into thinking that every night is one big apre party ... it might be for those holidaying there but not for those who are working full time. Usually after I finished for the day I would go up to my room, cook dinner, do some reading then go to bed. Of course sometimes after the public went home we would have big get togethers in the main centre or get together for beers down in the workshop.
